The Islands are great for dog walks and many accommodation providers are dog friendly.
Dogs can travel by ferry, by helicopter or on fixed wing Skybus flights. It’s worth knowing the following when choosing how you travel:
Dogs can suffer from sea-sickness
There will likely be a number of dogs travelling on the ferry
Dogs board aircraft with their owners and are put into a special box in the cabin for the duration of the flight
Helicopters in particular are loud
There is only one dog box on each flight so if your travel is disrupted you may find it takes longer to get a replacement flight
As your dog will not have a luggage allowance, it is worth bearing in mind there is the opportunity to hire dog crates, beds, bowls and blankets on the Islands.
It should go without saying but take enough bags to ensure you are able to clear up after your dog and generally behave like a respectful and responsible dog owner.
